2021 Running Resolutions

2020 - The Year That Was

As I look back at the dumpster fire that is known as 2020, I reflect on my running successes and failures. First, the good:

  • I ran regularly for a year solid
  • I ended the year with 34 miles over 3 days in freezing rain to hit 2000 miles for the year
  • I stayed (relatively) injury free

Now, the bad:

  • I had only one race, minus my own, individual, time trials
  • Came close, but failed to break 7 min/mile for a 10k

2021 - The Year To Come

As I sit here on the 2nd of January, I am really excited about the year to come. There are many things I want to accomplish this year. My list includes the following:

  • Break 6:50 min/mile for a 10k
  • Begin racing again. Hopefully I can do that in the second half of the year
  • Get stronger. Weight room, here I come
  • Write software that will create my own weekly workouts
  • Hit 2250 miles for the year

What Does Success Look Like

I have direct control over all of these goals, minus racing. All are very tangible. For me, nothing less than 100% minus the racing goal will be acceptable.
